- Tobias Holzmann
Holzmann CFD is now split into the voluntary and business part. After a long period of supporting people in a voluntary way while spending several thousand hours the last eight years in preparing, generating and updating the tutorial, screen cast and publication section on my website as well as the online support and optimizing and extending the website, while only a few people gave something back to Holzmann CFD such as finance support or constructive feedback, a few changes were already done and further stuff will happen which sounds fair to Holzmann CFD:
- The book 'Numerics, Mathematics, Derivations and OpenFOAM®' will be still available but not in the new releases anymore. It can happen that the free PDF will go back to version 1.0. The official release will be available on the business site soon.
- The tutorial section is limited now and only contains the simple tutorials. The more advanced and tricky onces will be available on the business site soon.
- All screen casts related to OpenFOAM® are not public anymore but will be available on the business site soon.
- Special developments and extensions for OpenFOAM® will not be available for the public anymore.
- Updates on my libraries and tutorials are not regular anymore.
- Forum support is reduced drastically.
- No free private support requests anymore.
- No newsletter are sent anymore (list of registered users will be deleted soon).
For those who are sad now some personal words. I spent (as already said) more than a few thousand hours in a voluntary way supporting people all over the world and sharing my knowledge in the field of numerical mathematics and OpenFOAM®. The feedback that I got back from the community was almost zero and I only got requests, if my site was not available or there were problems on Youtube that my screen casts are not available. Furthermore, I heard that people in different companies used my work in order to solve their problem or were even able to handle and get started with OpenFOAM® after using my material. This reasons and others pushed me to that decision.
OpenFOAM® is a free, open source CFD toolbox using the C++ language and offers a lot of features to solve anything you can imagine (chemical reactions, turbulence, heat transfer, acoustics, solid mechanics and electromagnetic).
Coupling OpenFOAM® with DAKOTA® result in a extreme powerful toolbox for optimization, multi-dimensions analyses and much more.
ParaView® is an open-source, multi-platform data analysis and visualization application. The toolbox give the ability to make data manipulations, pictures and videos using numerical data.
The application has a great python interface that allows for scripting.
Blender® is the open source, cross platform suite of tools for 3D creation. It allows you to create geometries, repairing STL files and much more. Using the wide range of possibilities of renderings, Blender enable high quality rendering of numerical data.
The toolbox allows for python scripting by using the python API.
Salome® is an open-source software that provides a generic platform for Pre- and Post-Processing for numerical simulation. It can be used for creating geometries, meshing, data analyzing and much more. The main duty of the application is the interface between commercial CAD software and OpenFOAM®, e.g. excellent surface triangulation.
DAKOTA® is an open source toolbox that collects different optimization algorithm and can be used in combination with arbitrary software packages. The fork interface allows to combine DAKOTA® with any toolbox one wants to use.
Due to the fact that some question are asked frequently, Holzmann CFD made some basic tutorials that can be downloaded and analyzed. Each tutorial includes a bash script that describes the way to get to the solution..
Expert in mathematics and numerics in the field of computational fluid dynamics. Knowledge about discretize partial differential equations, matrix algebra, analysis and derivations. The community gets the first version of my book for free.
The voluntary part of Holzmann CFD spent a few thousand hours in the development of the extensions, tutorials, videos, forum support and website. Therefore, a voluntary donation is warmly welcomed.
